Equipment Rebuild, Modernization & Conversions
There are many aging pouch machines running today that have parts that are older or obsolete such as electronics, schematics, and mechanical transmissions that are not up to standard in today's packing environments. Because efficiency and machine control are key components to any floor, aged machines with relay logic and older plc's can no longer provide the needed speed and accuracy to keep the packing process profitable. HMC can provide new schematics fto replace mechanical transmissions with new servo controls. Our highly skilled and trained personnel and travel service techs can perform conversions with short lead times and onsite installations. If the machine needs a major conversion, they should be performed at HMC's specially equipped facility by our engineers.
Equipment Rebuilds
The fully trained staff at HMC Products can rebuild any horizontal or vertical pouch machine. Additionally, many packaging companies' needs and requirements change and HMC can assist by repurposing existing pouch machines. An example includes installing auger fillers for powder when the machine was originally purchased to fill rice. Contact us for specific details about our machine rebuilds and repurposing.
Equipment Modernization
When a machine is too old to function at current standards, HMC can provide updates to the machine's out of date components to improve its performance and make it compatible with a modern packing floor. Below are some of the modernizations we perform.
Supply Electronically Interlocked Doors
Many Bartelts® running today are not protected with barrier machine guarding exposing personnel to machine hazards and possible injury. Today’s new HMC Pouchmasters include barrier guarding with safety interlocks and/or light curtains. In addition, HMC supplies safety guard conversion kits for used Bartelts® with field installation options.
Install PLC and Touch Screen Controls
All new HMC Pouchmasters are fitted with the most advanced PLC controllers offered. Either Allen-Bradley Control/Compact Logix or B&R Panel PC 2100 controls may be selected, depending on your needs and budget. We utilize the latest programming methods to provide pouch fault tracking such as bad bar code read, vision defects of date code or tear notch, no vacuum/no fill, and many others. Additionally, optional remote Cat 5 modems are installed for 3rd party support and/or programming offline equipment from HMC technicians.
Check-Weigh Feedback
Feedback pulse output is available on most check weighers or may be added as an option. Reduce your give-away and allow HMC to provide you with checkweighers with your new pouchers that automatically adjust the auger revolutions with product density changes. We can either supply turn-key solutions and provide you with check weighers that include this capability or supply you with this programming option for a nominal fee if you choose to purchase your own check weighers.
Pack Off Automation with Robotic Arm
Today’s tight labor market and increasing minimum wage requirements require companies to evaluate end of line packoff automation as a cost savings strategy. Allow HMC to assist you with equipment to either semi-automate or fully automate this process. As an OEM Yaskawa Motoman Strategic Partner, we offer vast experience with many solutions for your packoff challenges. Often, payoff for semi automation occurs within 1-2 years of purchase.
Servo Motions to Replace Gearboxes and Clutch Brakes
All new HMC Pouchmasters are fitted with the most advanced PLC controllers offered. UL Approved Subpanels
HMC builds all electrical subpanels in house with experienced electricians. In addition, we are certified to build UL subpanels for a nominal upcharge. These subpanels may also be provided to upgrade your existing used relay logic HMC or Bartelt® pouch machines.
Equipment Conversion
HMC Products can convert your used HMC Pouchmasters, Bartelts®, KHS machines, or other horizontal form fill seal machines to run more efficient, safe, and reliable. In addition, we can supply special tooling for special seal designs or pouch shapes.

Ultrasonics Top Seal
HMC Products’ latest offering is top sealing pouches with an ultrasonics sealing assembly. This unit performs the first seal, then heat sealing is performed afterward. Primarily used with liquid type products, ultrasonics top sealing provides an added insurance level of leak free top seals. This device can be fitted to existing equipment at the customer site.
